In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be presenting on Lipid Disorders. This will include dyslipidemia, hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. We will begin this lecture by discussing the normal physiology of lipids and how our body metabolizes and utilizes lipids. We will then be discussing the acquired causes of lipid disorders like diabetes, hypothyroidism, nephrotic syndrome, and medications that have a negative effect. We will then be moving onto the features and complications from these lipid disorders, how we diagnose these conditions, and finally the treatment which is most commonly with Statins.
