In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will present on Cholangitis. We will discuss the pathophysiology, highlighting the bacterial infection of the bile ducts, often secondary to obstruction. The session will transition to a digital presentation focused on the diagnostic approach, including clinical features, laboratory findings indicative of infection and biliary obstruction, and imaging studies such as ultrasonography and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). Finally, we will review the management strategies for Cholangitis, emphasizing antibiotic therapy and, in cases of obstruction, endoscopic or surgical interventions to restore bile flow.
