In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be teaching you about the physiology of deglutition, simply known as swallowing. The three phases of deglutition will include the oral phase, the pharyngeal phase, and the esophageal phase. We start this video by first talking about the muscles of mastication and how this is important in the formation of a bolus during the oral phase. We then follow that bolus all the way into the esophageal phase where it will eventually be turned into chyme.
