Zachary Murphy is one of the co-founders of Ninja Nerd and is responsible for preparing, drawing, and presenting the science and medicine lectures. Zach attended Misericordia University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Zach worked at Northampton Community College as a professional tutor in General and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology and Anatomy & Physiology where he met his best friends: Rob & Kristin Beach, who are also the co-founders of Ninja Nerd. While tutoring Zach realized the impact he was making with tutoring students at the community college but had this insatiable desire to make a difference in a larger and more global way; that’s where Ninja Nerd blossomed into a special platform that has reached a very large number of students with the ultimate desire to make a difference in academic and clinical advancement.
Zach decided he wanted to pursue a career in medicine and help make a difference in the lives of others who struggle with various medical conditions. Zach pursued medicine and graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2020 with his masters as a Physician Assistant (PA-C). Zach then pursued a career in intensive care medicine. Zach works in a neuro-intensive care unit and deals with patients with ischemic, hemorrhagic strokes, status epilepticus, brain masses as well as various comorbid medical conditions that complicate their ICU stay. Zach loves every aspect of medicine and science and wants nothing more than to share that love of science and medicine to others around the world as well as help others succeed in their academic and clinical journeys. His personal interests include spending time with his two French bulldogs (Gibbs and McGee) who are his absolute best friends, surfing, swimming, fishing, and of course studying and learning to prepare and spread knowledge in the form of enjoyable and funny videos for Ninja Nerd.
Dr. Robert Beach received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Desales University after receiving his Bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg University. However, he originally started with college credits at Northampton Community College where he would meet Zach Murphy and Kristin Popovice while tutoring foundational sciences. Having a unique love for science, medicine and photography came the idea for Ninja Nerd. Rob would film and edit the lectures, Kristin would help illustrate, and Zach would present to people from all around the world.
Upon graduating and receiving his doctorate, Rob worked in his hometown of Bethlehem for a local health network as a Physical Therapist. He worked as a full time Physical Therapist for a year. He soon realized his passion and love for Ninja Nerd and resigned as a Physical Therapist to work full time for the business he helped create. Currently, Rob takes care of operations and finances for Ninja Nerd, in addition to continuing to film and edit lectures to share with students and professionals around the world.
Rob enjoys traveling to Maine to hike in Acadia National Park and visit wineries. He is married to Kristin, Co-Founder of Ninja Nerd and they have four adorable cats!
Kristin earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Moravian University and most recently, her Masters of Nursing from Moravian University. With a love for teaching, Kristin began teaching high school science courses for four years. However, her love for medicine and caring for her community would push her back into school to earn her nursing degree. While pursuing Nursing, Kristin also put her teaching skills to use by tutoring at Northampton Community College where she met Zach Murphy and Robert Beach. Through their friendship and passion for teaching, Ninja Nerd was born.
Presently, Kristin works as an Emergency Room Nurse at a Level 2 Trauma Center. Kristin and Rob got married in 2020 and have four beautiful cats! Kristin is a huge fan of Harry Potter and loves to draw in her spare time. She loves to be outside in the nature hiking, gardening, or laying in her hammock to read a book.
My name is Mina and I am a 5th year medical student from Alexandria Egypt. My favorite specialty is theoretical physics, but it's too little too late for that! I used to find Cardiology a very smart speciality. Later, I found it to be too smart. I also like surgery. Ninja Nerd started making videos as I started medical school, what a companionship! Inspired by my sister (and a little jealous), I have been learning to play the Oud for 3 years now. In my free time I like comedy, satire and laughter in general.
My name is Juhi and I am a medical student from India, currently preparing for my residency. My desired branches are Neurology and Infectious Diseases and I plan to make my career in one of these as a doctor. As for hobbies- I love to cook, dance, read and hang out with friends and family. My one big dream is to travel the world and see all the places on my bucket list.
My name is Kitti, I'm 21 years old and I live in Hungary. I got my degree in biology at the University of Szeged but I soon realised that I would much rather make a career out of illustration/graphic design. I will take some art classes next year to deepen my knowledge and learn new techniques. I was always very artistic, but I also love science so working on this project with the Ninja Nerds is the best of both worlds.
Hi! I’m Natalya, a New York-based creative professional and a medical student with over 15 years of experience in illustration and graphic design for print and digital media. In 2020, I decided to change my career path and become a naturopathic doctor (ND). Currently, I’m pursuing the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree at CCNM, but I still enjoy working on occasional design projects. This keeps my creative side inspired and my design skills sharp and fresh. After graduation, I plan to continue creative consulting because visual communication will always remain a huge part of who I am.
